I am a qualified Maternity and Child Sleep consultant, a quality sleep expert who gently helps babies and young children sleep better.
I offer a one-on-one consultancy, meeting clients in person or providing consultation over the phone/skype. Whether you are a first time parent or a ‘been there and don’t want to repeat the same mistakes’ parent, I endeavor to find what works best for you and your family. I will provide you with the tools, both emotional and educational, that you can use to work towards improving your child’s sleep.
I like to focus primarily on your child’s emotional wellbeing and sleep hygiene which are fundamental to your child sleeping well. These provide the foundations on which your child will learn to be comfortable going to bed, be less anxious about staying in bed and will be able to fall back asleep if they wake during the night or at nap time.

Hi let me introduce myself. My name is Cara McDermott and I first heard about child sleep consultancy when I had my second child who up until 8 months old was up every 2 hours at night.


I was beside myself and became ill from being so run down. I didn’t really have anyone to turn to. I met many other parents in the same predicament, everyone latching on to tidbits that would hopefully help there little one sleep. The next time I would meet them the situation would still be the same. It was around then that I thought their must be something/someone out there that can help parents and guide us in the right direction. Through an Australian friend I was introduced to the world of Child Sleep Consultancy and the magic that these people performed. A year later I was made redundant from a Project Manager position in a bank and thought this is it, now is my chance! Through the International Maternity Institute I gained my qualifications and learned more about all aspects of sleep, emotional wellbeing, and the science of sleep than I ever imagined I would.
Since then I have also completed the Advanced course in Child Sleep Consultancy from the same Institute and a course in Infant Mental Health Community Training. I am also certified as a "Happiest Baby" Educator for those younger babies.
And now I want to empower you with that knowledge.

4 weeks holding hands plan!

  • An initial call to ascertain the predicament you are in.
  • A preliminary evaluation. This is a comprehensive questionnaire about your child’s sleep habits and routines that you will complete.
  • A customized step by step sleep plan that I will prepare once the questionnaire has been completed.
  • A 1 hour skype/phone/facetime/*in-person session where I will go through the plan in detail so that you understand and feel comfortable implementing this plan.
  • Up to 4 hours support including 4 sleep follow-up chats and email support.  During this time we will work on different aspects of the plan and deal with any setbacks you might be having or answer general questions. This is usually one call a week but this can be tailored to suit your needs.
  • Email support for 4 weeks. Emails will be answered within 24 hours.
  • Cost €230/*€260 for in person consultations

    (This plan does not include follow-up support) • An initial call to ascertain the predicament you are in. • A preliminary evaluation. This is a comprehensive questionnaire about your child’s sleep habits and routines that you will complete. • A customized step by step sleep plan that I will prepare once the questionnaire has been completed. • A skype/phone/facetime/*in-person session lasting up to 90 minutes where I will go through the plan in detail so that you understand the plan and feel comfortable and empowered implementing it. Cost €150/€185 for in person consultations

    Routine review plan

    Let me review your sleep schedule and daytime routine and make recommendations to improve your child’s sleep and daily routine. • You send me your child’s sleep schedule and daytime routine. • I will review and provide by phone/skype an indepth analysis of the schedule and offer recommendations. There is no sleep plan with this package. Cost €80
